I’ve put together a round up of the 4am Project event on 6th December. Thank you to everyone who took part! Over the coming weeks I shall be featuring your fab photos on the blog and putting in links to the photographers who have blogged about their 4am photo experience.
As part of the 4am Project I organised a photo event on 6th December which was held at the Bodies Revealed exhibition in my hometown of Birmingham. I’ve had lots of great feedback and I’m glad you enjoyed the event!
Lots of amazing photographs of the exhibition have been submitted to flickr!
I took the opportunity to ask some of the photographers how they heard about the 4am Project and if they enjoyed the event! Thank you everyone who took part in the video.
And there is more! Being a world wide project, lots of other photographers from around the world set their alarms and headed out in the wee small hours with their cameras to capture their world at 4am. Take a look!
If you would like to take part in the next 4am Project event, put the 4thApril in your diary! Maybe get some friends together too! You can keep up to date with all the 4am Project news on the website, and you can follow the project on twitter too @4amproject

Mitch says:
“First time doing a sunrise shoot over a beach, so I was on holidays last week and for four days I woke up at 4am to catch the ‘before sunrise, and sunrise’. Before sunrise sometimes you get a pink horizon as in this picture and to create the mist effect with the water I needed to use a long exposure, thus using a polarize filter to get lower light.”
I went out recently on a 4am shoot. It was a particularly foggy morning which was quite a challenge! If you would like to see the pictures and see a video, please visit my blog.
I will be featuring 4am photos on the blog, but also lots of other things themed around 4am like poems, songs, videos. If you know of anything 4am related, drop me a line 4amproject@googlemail.com, or leave a comment. I would really like this site to be a collaboration, and I can’t do that without you!
So, onto our first featured photo by Pete Ashton. A very snowy 4am scene. I really like the ethereal light coming from behind the tress and to the right of the photo. The snow laden foreground is peppered with animal footprints – maybe made by foxes or cats. When you look through the boughs of the fir trees heavy with snowfall, you can see a house and can imagine it’s inhabitants fast asleep in warm beds in contrast to the cold winter scape that awaits them when they wake up.
Thank you Pete for submitting your photos of 4am. Pete wrote about his 4am photo taking experience on his blog. You can read about it here.
The 4th April at 4am is the big date we are counting down to, but you can still submit any 4am photos that you have already taken to be included in the global 4am picture. All you need is a flickr account (it’s free), and then to tag your photo with ’4amproject’. For more information on how to do this, please visit this page.
Remember you can also follow the 4amproject on twitter! @4amproject
