Thank you for the insight into the island. I thought it would be a peaceful haven, but with the motorcycles, I guess not!

Maybe it’s more suitable for a day trip to see the skyline and mountains, rather than a week long beach holiday

Its a tiny island in the middle of Guanabara Bay (absolutely poluted) where there is NOTINHG to do. I mean that! The beaches sucks, the restaurants suck (and charge like maniacs), there are no cool parks to picnic or play some ball.

The no-car thing is not what you´re thinking. Since it´s an island, you have to take a ferry there (bout 30 min on a crappy crowded ferry), so yes, no car. But in the island there are quite a few cars, and a hole lot of motorcylces. The rest are bikes and smelly skinny horses.

It does have a cool view, since Rio´s skyline is amazing, with the mountains been so close to the beach. Other than that, don´t waste you time going there.
